Obituary

Michael Pison, 88, of Palm Coast, passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2026, with his beloved wife of 62 years, Beatrice (Groen) Pison by his side. Born in the Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late Louis and Frances (Pike) Pison.

Michael or “Mike” as most knew him, spent his early years in and around New York City. He was an only child but never lacked for friends or adventures. Although he was a “city kid” he found plenty of ways to enjoy nature and always loved to explore and fish.

Mike enjoyed speedskating in his 20s and was part of a men’s group in New York City. He met his one true love “Bea” who was also a speedskater, by happenstance at her home rink in Rye, NY. The two dated, married in the Dutch Reform Church of Sleepy Hollow, and then lived in Tarrytown. They would eventually build a home and raise a family together in the suburbs of beautiful Tuxedo, NY.

Mike was a thinker, a tinkerer and had a mind for mathematics and science. He worked as an electronics engineer for his entire career and found joy in problem solving and helping others. To his kids and even to the neighborhood kids, Mike, aptly nicknamed “MacGyver” was a true blessing, often fixing bikes, cars, video games and other equipment for all.

Mike valued experiences over things and especially enjoyed traveling with his family; taking multiple cross-country RV trips, several trips to Europe and later, trips to his preferred destination - the Caribbean. Mike was a music lover, particularly classic folk. Mike and Bea retired to Palm Coast in 2002, over 24 years ago. He was an active member of Flagler Yacht Club, various bowling leagues, and Trinity Presbyterian Church.

In his spare time, he enjoyed skiing, fishing, the beach, boating, doing puzzles, reading, and of course, watching his “home team”, the Yankees. His greatest achievement was his family. Mike will be remembered for his friendly personality, and how he was instantly loved by all who met him.

Besides his wife, Beatrice, Michael is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Nikki Pison of Rosendale, NY, and his daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Josh Hoffman of Westford MA; his grandchildren: Niko, Ashton, Sequoyah, Felix, Griffin and Bennett; as well as great grandchildren: Zayah, Oliver, Viviani and Jay.

A Memorial Service will be held on November 16, 2026, at 11 AM in Trinity Presbyterian Church, 156 Florida Park Dr N, Palm Coast. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Lotus Funeral Services, 460 Palm Coast Pkwy, Ste 3, Palm Coast. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church in Mike’s honor.
